Löwenbastion
Löwenbastion stands beside Maschsee in Hanover as an observation platform shaped like a bastion. It marks the end of the quay wall running from the lake’s northern shore, with views across the water and a mostly open space.
Built during the 1930s under National Socialist rule, the structure has a railing made by Siegfried Prütz. Two standing lion sculptures by Arno Breker arrived in 1938, replacing a plan for crocodile figures by Peter Schumacher. Their design draws on the Braunschweiger Löwe, while the platform becomes a concert and performance venue during the annual Maschseefest.

The myTuur app is free, and once you are standing at a spot its story starts by itself.
Spots like this one are the stops myTuur strings into tours through Hanover. In the app, each story begins where you stand: walk up to a spot and it starts, read it on screen or listen as you go, then follow the route to the next one.
What is myTuur?
