Lebensbaum

Lebensbaum is a public sculpture by Susanne Siegl at Kulturhaus Hainholz in Hanover. The cultural centre places the work within a neighbourhood setting where public art meets everyday community life. Its purpose reaches beyond decoration, creating a life-affirming space that can serve as a meeting point.

Siegl’s projects invite local residents from eight to eighty to take part in multi-week artistic symposiums. That shared process gives neighbourhoods a direct connection to the works created for them. Lebensbaum reflects an approach that makes art accessible while encouraging belonging, identity and pride among residents. The sculpture therefore connects Susanne Siegl’s artistic practice with community participation in Hanover.
