Millerntor-Stadion
Millerntor-Stadion stands in Hamburg’s St. Pauli district, close to the Reeperbahn and Heiligengeistfeld. The multi-purpose ground is best known as FC St. Pauli’s home, with football matches, concerts and American football among its uses.
The first sports ground appeared here after the First World War, while the current stadium opened in 1963 after the International Garden Exposition displaced the club. Major redevelopment between 2006 and 2015 rebuilt several stands, added under-soil heating and replaced the manual scoreboard with a digital display. The venue now holds nearly 30,000 people and provides wheelchair access.
Prince performed here in 1988, adding a striking musical chapter to the stadium’s sporting history. Its name recalls the Millerntor Gate, once an entrance through Hamburg’s city wall.
