Alsterwiese Schwanenwik
Alsterwiese Schwanenwik is a broad green space in Hamburg, a few minutes’ walk from the city centre. Schwanenwik Street borders the grass, with views across the Alster.
You can use the open ground for football, frisbee, barbecues, sunbathing, picnics, or leisurely walks beside the water. Residents and visitors share the space for outdoor time near Hamburg’s centre. Until the 1920s, a public bath occupied this spot, but no remains are visible. Alsterpark opened to the public in 1952 after private land became a recreational area. Edwin Scharff’s Three Men in a Boat adds art to the waterside setting. The statue overlooks the grass and the Alster.
