3001 Kino
You find the 3001 Kino in Hamburg’s Schanzenviertel, on the former Montblanc site. It is an arthouse and documentary cinema with a compact screening room. Many films play in their original language with subtitles.
Jens Meyer, Rainer Krisp and Thomas Schröder founded it, and it opened in 1991. The surrounding complex grew from an alternative-use project launched after Hamburg bought the site in 1990. Later changes in ownership and tenancy brought rising rents, prompting protests in 2016. Through these changes, the venue has continued hosting regional and international festivals.
Its festival programme includes the Latin America Film Days, the Mo&Friese Short Film Festival and Japan Filmfest Hamburg. Europa Cinemas membership links this work to a network supporting cultural diversity in film. Premieres and special screenings often include filmmaker discussions, offering direct exchanges about the work. The documentary programme has earned several awards, including the Kinoprogrammpreis in 2008. Wheelchair users also have facilities designed to make the venue accessible.

The myTuur app is free, and once you are standing at a spot its story starts by itself.
Spots like this one are the stops myTuur strings into tours through Hamburg. In the app, each story begins where you stand: walk up to a spot and it starts, read it on screen or listen as you go, then follow the route to the next one.
What is myTuur?
myTuur is a free city-guide app. Its tours are built from spots, and each spot carries a story that starts when you get there, to read or to listen to as you like.
