Lụa Vạn Phúc
Lụa Vạn Phúc is a historic silk-weaving village in Hanoi, where red-brick gateways, old trees, wells, and afternoon markets shape the setting. A canopy of small umbrellas brightens one village street. Hand-painted murals by local teachers show everyday life, while the temple dedicated to Thanh Hoang Lang preserves a revered local tradition. Smooth silk, symmetrical patterns, and vivid colours appear across fabric, clothing, and scarves.
Silk weaving has continued here for centuries, making the village a centre of Vietnamese craft. Its silk reached international markets through the Marseille Fair and later travelled to Eastern Europe. Local households still weave silk, keeping the craft visible in workshops and along the lanes. The fabric feels soft and smooth, with intricate patterns that make each finished piece distinctive.
A red-brick entrance gate stands as a memorable welcome, while thousands of suspended umbrellas create the village’s most striking overhead view.
