Villa Noailles

Villa Noailles occupies a historic estate in Grasse, where an eighteenth-century bastide overlooks terraced gardens. About three hectares of slopes hold pools, fountains, channels, stone stairways, and planted terraces.

Viscount Charles de Noailles acquired the property in 1923 and began shaping the gardens in 1947. A natural spring supplies roughly twenty water features, sending a quiet flow through the grounds. English and Italian influences appear among boxwood topiaries, mixed borders, peonies, clipped yews, camellias, and Judas trees. Emilio Terry redesigned the southern façade in 1947, while sculptures by Oscar Dominguez and Henri Laurens occupy the garden. Restoration began in the early 1990s, and the site became a listed historical monument in 1996.

Magnolias and prunus trees colour the spring garden beside lawns, flower meadows, and an older olive grove. Rare camellias include an autumn-flowering variety associated with the Noailles family.
