Teqeja e Shtufit

Teqeja e Shtufit is a Bektashi teqe, or Sufi lodge, in Gjirokastra, Albania. You find a place connected with prayer, hospitality, learning, and community gatherings. Its setting belongs to a city where churches, mosques, and Islamic traditions have shaped a diverse religious heritage.

The Bektashi order emphasises tolerance, spiritual practice, dialogue, and service to the community. Local history links Baba Mustafai with the Church of the Archangels, where he guarded the construction site from a tent for almost a year. The church stood alongside the Bazaar Mosque and this lodge as a lasting example of interfaith cooperation.

That tent remained near the church until construction ended, giving the place a concrete story of protection and religious solidarity.
