Rosenkranzkapelle

Rosenkranzkapelle stands in Kleinkönigsdorf, part of Frechen, where a chapel and five grottos shape the local setting. Five grottos lie directly behind the chapel site. Mosaics and facade details connect the buildings with rosary traditions and Christian stories.

An apartment-building project lasted almost eighteen months, while all five grottos remained undamaged. The surrounding area is accessible again. A 194-page book brings together about 240 photographs, grotto history, village history, and explanations of visible symbols. Its photographs include grotto interiors and scenes from Kleinkönigsdorf in the 1920s and 1960s.

Dorfgemeinschaft St. Magdalena Kleinkönigsdorf has maintained the site and organised local events since 1948. The chapel and grottos feature in local traditions. Their small cave-like spaces provide a quiet detail behind the facade, easy to overlook while passing.
