Frieda Stein
Frieda Stein is a Stolperstein in Frankfurt, set into the pavement as a brass-plated memorial. Its small surface marks a place of remembrance connected to the Holocaust across Europe. Wheelchair access makes this pavement-level memorial reachable for visitors.
Born in Gnodstadt, Unterfranken, in 1884, Frieda lived with Simon Stein, a cattle dealer from Ermetzhofen. Their families later ran a cattle business in Uffenheim. Boycotts beginning in 1933 damaged the business, and the families moved to Frankfurt by 1936. There, a six-room apartment on Günthersburgallee became their home. In May 1940, forced relocation placed them in a one-room apartment on Koselstraße. An attempt to emigrate failed before Frieda, Simon, and Max were deported to Theresienstadt in 1942. Frieda died in Theresienstadt on 21 June 1943.
