Dommuseum
Dommuseum occupies the historic cloister of Frankfurt Imperial Cathedral, also known as St. Bartholomäus. You find ecclesiastical treasures there, including medieval and baroque Eucharistic vestments.
The collection follows the cathedral from early medieval archaeology through its redesign in the nineteenth century. A grave found during excavations in 1991 held two children buried around 700, with gold jewellery, glass and clay vessels, toys, and amulets. The nearby Haus am Dom contains the Sakristeum, where treasures from St. Leonhard and Liebfrauenkirche include objects from former Carmelite and Dominican monasteries. Temporary exhibitions connect modern and contemporary art with cultural history, including the 1867 cathedral fire and the Golden Bull's role in Frankfurt's imperial elections and coronations. The museum has welcomed visitors since 1987 and is wheelchair accessible.
