F-16A Fighting Falcon
The F-16A Fighting Falcon stands in Eindhoven as a preserved Dutch military jet, marked with the registration J-235. Its single turbofan engine, bubble canopy and compact fighter profile reveal the design’s focus on speed, visibility and agility.
General Dynamics developed the aircraft in the United States, and the Royal Netherlands Air Force introduced the F-16A on 2 November 1979. J-235 served with squadrons 322 and 323, operating from Leeuwarden and Volkel during training, airshows and operational deployments. NATO missions connected this Dutch fighter to wider allied air defence, while its capabilities covered air-to-air combat and ground attack.
The aircraft carried air-to-air missiles, bombs and a built-in cannon, supported by advanced avionics for its era. J-235 appeared at Eindhoven, Leeuwarden, Ramstein and Leuchars before preservation within Dutch military aviation heritage.
