Scheidt-Weschpfennig
Scheidt-Weschpfennig stands in Düsseldorf as a historic building with baroque architecture and a richly ornamented façade. A double coat of arms above one doorway displays the year 1627 beside the families Scheidt-Weschpfennig and von Tengnagel.
Freiherr von Scheidt purchased the house in 1626, before construction or renovation brought it to completion. Late-medieval cellar vaults preserve evidence of an earlier structure beneath the building. The ground floor contains pubs and a pizzeria, while the restaurant Parlin holds the best-preserved interior feature. A stucco ceiling there centres on a large decorated medallion surrounded by shell motifs. Its baroque ornament reflects the influence of Schloss Benrath and Düsseldorf Residenzschloss, and an 1880 exhibition reproduced it as an example.
A protected wall section in the courtyard marks the former access to Ritterstraße.
