Hochbehälter Ockerwitz

Hochbehälter Ockerwitz stands in Dresden as a historical water reservoir, built in 1901 from monolithic concrete. Earth and grass cover its top, allowing the structure to blend into the landscape.

Two separate chambers lie about three metres underground, each holding 250 cubic metres of water and staying frost-free. The reservoir managed pressure fluctuations and supported Dresden’s developing central drinking-water system for nearly a century. Operations ended around 1985, while much of the technical installation remained intact inside. Vaulted ceilings preserve the industrial character of the former waterworks.

The former reservoir now provides space for weddings, birthdays and corporate events beneath its historic ceilings. Up to 46 guests can gather around a bar, dance floor and buffet area. A garden extends the venue outdoors, while guest rooms offer internet access and televisions. A Finnish sauna adds a quiet detail to this unusual combination of waterworks history and contemporary hospitality.
