Chip
Chip is a public steel sculpture by Stefan Sous in Dortmund, standing on the accessible Platz von Amiens. Its hollow body resembles a shard, with flat and curved metal segments joined into a sturdy form.
Installed in 2007, it echoes the colour and basic shape of the nearby black RWE Tower while opposing its ordered architecture. A small base makes the steel body appear to float above the ground. Sharp edges meet smooth curves, and each viewing angle changes how the material and form appear. In the surrounding urban landscape, this mysterious object invites your own interpretation.

The myTuur app is free, and once you are standing at a spot its story starts by itself.
Spots like this one are the stops myTuur strings into tours through Dortmund. In the app, each story begins where you stand: walk up to a spot and it starts, read it on screen or listen as you go, then follow the route to the next one.
