Frue Plads
Frue Plads is a square in central Copenhagen, where the University of Copenhagen faces the Church of Our Lady. You can see a seven-gabled Neo-Gothic façade, designed by Peter Malling and built between 1829 and 1836.
Six busts stand before the university building: Vilhelm Thomsen, J. N. Madvig, H. N. Clausen, J. F. Schouw, Japetus Steenstrup and Niels Bohr. Around them, the Kommunitetsbygningen dates from the 1620s, while the university library dates from 1861 and displays an innovative brick façade. The square also hosts an annual craft and design market with more than 100 stalls featuring ceramics, glass, wood, textiles, jewellery and graphics.
A guided visit can lead through the Senate House, the Carcer university prison, the refectory, the museum building and the library. Copenhagen’s oldest building, the Senate House dates from around 1420, while the background may reveal the tower of St Peter’s Church.

The myTuur app is free, and once you are standing at a spot its story starts by itself.
Spots like this one are the stops myTuur strings into tours through Copenhagen. In the app, each story begins where you stand: walk up to a spot and it starts, read it on screen or listen as you go, then follow the route to the next one.
What is myTuur?
