Punta Geno
Punta Geno sits in Como beside Lake Como, where the lakeside setting frames a villa, open water, and a belvedere. The viewpoint offers broad views across the lake. The surrounding area draws people for waterfront walks, quiet pauses, and the way the nineteenth-century architecture meets the natural shoreline.
Until the sixteenth century, this ground held a hospital before becoming a lazaretto for contagious diseases. The local nickname was “Ca’ di Mort”. The present villa emerged from a renovation around 1850, after the hospital and quarantine functions had ended. Its architecture preserves the character of nineteenth-century Como while the site’s public role shifted towards scenery and leisure.
Today, the villa remains private, while the lakeside surroundings welcome visitors seeking the water and the view. The old nickname recalls a darker chapter. From a former place of medical isolation, the belvedere now gives you a peaceful perspective over Lake Como.
