Faraglioni di Capri
Faraglioni di Capri rises from the sea just off Capri’s coast, with three rock stacks reaching about one hundred metres. You can see Stella still attached to the island, while Mezzo stands beyond a stretch of water.
Mezzo reaches eighty-two metres and has a natural arch that boats sometimes pass through. Scopolo, also called Faraglione di Fuori, rises to one hundred six metres farther offshore, and only its rocks shelter the blue lizard Podarcis siculus coeruleus. From Belvedere di Punta Tragara, the Giardini di Augusto, or Marina Piccola, you can frame all three against the sea, while boat trips bring you close to their bases.
A fourth stack, Monacone, stands farther away, with its name recalling the monk seals once found in these waters. Roman villas already overlooked these rocks, and twentieth-century artists and writers later sought inspiration here.
