Statue Jeanne d'Arc
Statue Jeanne d'Arc stands in bronze before the Sainte Jeanne d'Arc church in Cannes. Created by Atelier Missor, the monument presents Joan of Arc within France’s long tradition of honouring her.
The city commissioned the sculpture for a prominent public space, where it became part of the inauguration of a new car park and garden. Weighing about nine tonnes, the work drew public and legal debate over its funding, acquisition procedures and relationship to earlier Joan of Arc statues. Its presence has also brought gatherings and demonstrations, turning the church forecourt into a place where art, history and public life meet.
Joan of Arc remains visible here as both a national historical figure and a symbol claimed by different communities. The bronze figure continues a tradition found across France, while its setting keeps local conversations about memory and public space in view.
