Intercontinental Carlton Cannes
Intercontinental Carlton Cannes stands on the seafront in Cannes, France, with Belle Époque architecture facing the Mediterranean. Two domes mark its seaward corners and give the façade its most recognisable profile. Charles Dalmas and Marcellin Mayère designed the building, which opened in 1911 after construction between 1909 and 1910.
An added wing soon doubled the hotel’s size, replacing the neighbouring Hôtel de la Plage. Today, 332 rooms combine Belle Époque details with modern luxury. The ground-floor Carlton Restaurant Riviera opens onto a large terrace, alongside the Carlton Beach Restaurant and Carlton Bar. A private beach offers views across the Mediterranean, while the Cannes Film Festival brings international film stars to its rooms and terraces.
Alfred Hitchcock filmed To Catch a Thief here with Grace Kelly and Cary Grant. Grace Kelly also met Prince Rainier III of Monaco here during the 1955 festival. Elton John’s I’m Still Standing and New Order’s World, The Price of Love, also feature the exterior or beach. The two seafront domes are traditionally linked to Caroline Otero, known as La Belle Otero.

The myTuur app is free, and once you are standing at a spot its story starts by itself.
Spots like this one are the stops myTuur strings into tours through Cannes. In the app, each story begins where you stand: walk up to a spot and it starts, read it on screen or listen as you go, then follow the route to the next one.
