House of Kharazati
House of Kharazati stands in Old Cairo as a traditional Ottoman residence, its quiet façade opening onto courtyards, carved wood and filtered light. Thick walls and mashrabiya screens soften the sun into golden patterns.
A bent entrance passage shields domestic life from the street, while the central courtyard gathers air, light and water. Bayt al Suhaymi and the House of Mostafa Gaafar join it in one of Cairo’s most complete surviving ensembles of Ottoman domestic architecture. Restoration renewed the surrounding alley, marble floors and wooden ceilings after centuries of use and neglect.
The rooms later held the +20 Egypt Design showcase, where Egyptian artisans and international designers brought in furniture, textiles and glassware. Stone carries the echo of footsteps, while polished wood and shifting light keep the house’s climate-conscious craft visible.

The myTuur app is free, and once you are standing at a spot its story starts by itself.
Spots like this one are the stops myTuur strings into tours through Cairo. In the app, each story begins where you stand: walk up to a spot and it starts, read it on screen or listen as you go, then follow the route to the next one.
What is myTuur?
