Várkert Bazár - Lépcsőpavilon
Várkert Bazár - Lépcsőpavilon rises within Budapest’s Castle Garden Bazaar, where a graceful spiral staircase draws your eye first. Miklós Ybl designed the surrounding complex between 1874 and 1882 to screen the royal palace’s backyards with grandeur. The stone steps lead past a medieval curtain wall into gardens once created for royalty. Wheelchair access lets more visitors experience this historic setting, including its broad views across the city.
Above the staircase, more than 300 rose varieties once filled the gardens, alongside orchids and azaleas grown in greenhouses. The Triton Fountain stands at the centre, showing a mythological confrontation between the sea god and Cupid. In the twentieth century, concerts and youth gatherings brought a different energy to these former royal grounds. Today, the restored garden connects palace history, changing city life and a striking ascent through stone.

The myTuur app is free, and once you are standing at a spot its story starts by itself.
Spots like this one are the stops myTuur strings into tours through Budapest. In the app, each story begins where you stand: walk up to a spot and it starts, read it on screen or listen as you go, then follow the route to the next one.
What is myTuur?
myTuur is a free city-guide app. Its tours are built from spots, and each spot carries a story that starts when you get there, to read or to listen to as you like.
