Villa Trost

Villa Trost stands in Bremen’s Burglesum district, where Lesmonastraße also contains two other protected houses. Its two-storey, rendered walls rise above a basement beneath a tall mansard roof. Dormer windows punctuate the roof, giving the residential building a distinct early twentieth-century silhouette. Alfred Runge and Eduard Scotland designed the villa, completed in 1912 during their active period in Bremen.

Bremen has protected the building as an architectural monument since 1982, while it continues to serve as a home. Its elegant design combines turn-of-the-century architectural ideas with practical residential use. Haus Lichtenegg and Haus Mindeströmmen extend the protected streetscape along Lesmonastraße. Runge and Scotland also renovated Haus Hohekamp and worked in design and advertising for Kaffee HAG. Their broader Bremen legacy includes the buildings of Böttcherstraße, connecting this quiet villa with a wider body of work.
