Villa Overbeck
Villa Overbeck stands in Bremen’s Schwachhausen district, within the Barkhof area along Parkallee. Its square, plastered façade rises above a basement and faces a street lined with historic buildings.
Built between 1902 and 1903, the residence follows designs by Friedrich Wellermann, Paul Frölich, and garden architect Christian Roselius. Neobaroque details shape its mansard roof, octagonal tower, large veranda, three gables, and garden-facing extension. The garden includes a late landscape arrangement and a carpet bed in the front yard.
Paul Overbeck, a timber merchant, commissioned the house, which Bremen has protected as a monument since 1981. Apartments, an atelier, medical practices, and offices now occupy the building. Parkallee dates from 1890, while the villa preserves a distinctive early-twentieth-century presence within Schwachhausen.
