Villa Dunkel
Villa Dunkel stands in Bremen’s Schwachhausen district, beside the Bürgerpark on Parkallee. Built in 1897 by architect Albert Dunkel, the two-storey plastered residence combines Neorenaissance details with a country-house character.
A street-facing gable, base floor, veranda and bay windows shape the front, while the rear adds half-timbering beneath a gabled roof. The roof is now hipped, and renovations have altered some decorative features over time. Since 1973, Bremen’s monument-preservation laws have protected the building, which accommodates offices and residential apartments.
Parkallee developed in 1890 and links Bremen’s city centre with the university campus. Its villa-lined surroundings include many protected buildings, making the rear half-timbered structure a memorable detail within the neighbourhood.
