Schuppen 2
Schuppen 2 stands on the southern side of the Europahafen in Bremen’s Walle district, within Überseestadt. The long, single-storey warehouse includes a four-storey office block on its southwest façade.
Built between 1951 and 1952, the industrial building formed part of Bremen’s post-war port reconstruction. Oberbaurat Jung from the Hafenbauamt designed the structure. Scarce materials led builders to reuse steel profiles from demolished pre-war sheds and deliveries intended elsewhere. The layout left more room for railways and lorries. After port operations moved north towards Neustädter Häfen and Bremerhaven, renovation converted the structure for new uses. Offices, shops, businesses, exhibitions and events now occupy its 6,900 square metres.
The waterside still preserves the crane track from dismantled semi-portal cranes. That surviving line connects the renovated building with its working-port past.
