Moorlose Kirche
Moorlose Kirche stands in Bremen’s Burglesum district, within Werderland and beside the former village of Mittelsbüren. The Lesum and Weser shape the setting, where riverside paths lead towards the Werderland nature reserve. The church remains a parish church for Mittelsbüren and its nearby evangelical cemetery.
The site reaches back to the thirteenth century, while the present neo-Gothic brick building replaced a deteriorated church in the nineteenth century. Theodor Eggers designed the hall church with a square western tower and projecting corner buttresses. Inside, wooden beams, a west gallery, a Baroque pulpit, and a plain altar create a restrained interior.
Six heraldic window panes from the eighteenth century survive inside, alongside a bell cast in 1643. An attached school once stood nearby, and its half-timbered replacement served the community until the primary school closed in 1969. The riverside approach makes the church a destination within Bremen’s open Werderland landscape.
