Haus Windeck
Haus Windeck stands in Grohn, within Bremen’s Vegesack district, on the high banks of the Lesum River. The 1847 villa combines one- and two-storey sections with a Tudor-style turret from the Romantic era.
Johannes Tideman, a Bremen merchant and shipowner, commissioned the building, while its architect remains unknown. Friedrich Bischoff acquired it in 1910, and Bremen heritage protection has covered the property since 2000. Today, the villa houses a city-run children’s and family centre beside a 6,000-square-metre garden.
Seven preschool groups once gathered here with 132 children, alongside nursery groups at neighbouring Grohner Utkiek. Singing, music, movement and multilingual books support language development, while inclusive education connects with early-intervention services. Fresh, mostly organic meals come from the on-site kitchen, and the grounds include outdoor play areas and a sports hall.

The myTuur app is free, and once you are standing at a spot its story starts by itself.
Spots like this one are the stops myTuur strings into tours through Bremen. In the app, each story begins where you stand: walk up to a spot and it starts, read it on screen or listen as you go, then follow the route to the next one.
What is myTuur?
