Doktorhaus
Doktorhaus stands in Werderland, within Bremen’s Burglesum district, as a single-storey, plastered country residence. Its hipped roof rises above two broad, two-storey, hipped central projections. Built around 1770, the summer residence served physician Carl von Ransfeld and combines Baroque forms with Classical elements. A two-leaved Rococo door marks the entrance.
Remnants of a formal garden survive around the house, including garden sculptures from its representative design. Since 1993, Bremen monument protection has covered the building. Balanced proportions and restrained detailing reflect late-eighteenth-century country-estate architecture. The protected Spiegelhof farmhouse stands nearby, with origins reaching back to 1667. Together, the buildings preserve distinct traces of Werderland’s historic rural character.
