Trabi Museum

Trabi Museum stands in Berlin near Checkpoint Charlie, presenting the Trabant and its place in East German history. Inside, you can see the classic 601, military vehicles, rally cars, and rare P50 and P60 models. A cinema shows films about the car’s role in East German culture.

The displays follow Trabant production from 1957 to 1991, under VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerke Zwickau. Its simple design and two-stroke engine made the car affordable and easy to maintain. A campervan version reveals another use for this familiar East German vehicle. The museum also connects Trabants with German reunification, when many crossed the border as the Berlin Wall fell.

A museum shop carries Trabant-themed souvenirs for visitors to browse. Trabi safaris extend the experience onto Berlin’s streets, while wheelchair accessibility supports visits to the museum.
