Marx-Engels-Forum
Marx-Engels-Forum occupies a public park in Berlin’s central Mitte district, where a rectangular wooded area surrounds a circular paved space. Bronze figures of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels anchor the centre. Marx sits while Engels stands, and both larger-than-life figures look east from eye level.
The former German Democratic Republic created the park in 1986 as a space shaped by socialist ideals. Ludwig Engelhardt created the bronze group for this setting. Its eye-level placement brings the seated and standing figures close to visitors. Behind the sculpture, a wall carries reliefs by Werner Stötzer. They contrast groups from early capitalist society with scenes of a liberated society and the German socialist movement.
Heavy bombing during the Second World War once struck this densely populated part of East Berlin. After reunification, Berliners debated removal, while a survey found majority support for keeping the monument.

The myTuur app is free, and once you are standing at a spot its story starts by itself.
Spots like this one are the stops myTuur strings into tours through Berlin. In the app, each story begins where you stand: walk up to a spot and it starts, read it on screen or listen as you go, then follow the route to the next one.
What is myTuur?
