Palau Meca

Palau Meca stands on Carrer de Montcada in Barcelona, within the Picasso Museum complex, among historic palatial houses. Its stone façade faces the historic street. The frontage combines a slightly off-centre lowered arch, aligned openings, balconies, small attic windows, and a rooftop terrace. A square central courtyard shapes the interior spaces. An open Baroque staircase rises beside a medieval semicircular arch, with wrought iron and Doric pilasters nearby.

The property began its documented history in the fourteenth century, then passed through merchants, noble families, charitable institutions, and city ownership. An eighteenth-century siege caused damage to the building. Segimon Milans i Lleu began a substantial reform afterwards, and his son continued the work. The city later integrated it into the museum. Inside, medieval wooden ceilings retain polychrome traces, while nineteenth-century rooms show painted frames, landscapes, cherubs, medallions, instruments, and garlands.
