Ca l'Arnó
Ca l'Arnó is a seventeenth-century Catalan farmhouse in Sant Martí de Provençals, set within Sant Martí Park in Barcelona. Its whitewashed façades, ground floor, upper floor and double-pitched roof preserve a rural form amid the city.
Two entrances shape the front: one square, the other a rounded arch built from short stones. A Gothic-style window includes reused Roman stones, while four original-period windows remain and a lintel carries the date 1689 with a heraldic shield. Until 1982, Isidre Crusens cultivated the surrounding land, irrigated with water from the Rec Comtal and sold vegetables at Clot market.
When the park was developed in the early 1980s, neighbours occupied the farmhouse and guarded it overnight to stop its demolition. They discovered an entrance to an air-raid shelter inside, and their action helped secure restoration. Since 1992, the building has served as a municipal play centre for local children and families.
