บ้านสาทร

Sathorn House stands in Bangkok, Thailand, as a historic complex of four buildings arranged around a central courtyard. Built in 1888 during King Chulalongkorn’s reign, it combines a Neoclassical mansion with a central porch, a three-storey tower, and a hipped roof covered in diamond-shaped cement tiles.

Luang Sathonrachayut, a Chinese businessman and government official, first commissioned the residence. Its later chapters include the Hotel Royal in the 1920s and Soviet, then Russian, embassy from 1948 to 1999. Renovations during the 2000s preserved the site as Sathorn Square and W Bangkok developed around it, while the complex later reopened as a restaurant and entertainment venue.

Inside, carved teak and tin ceilings add detail beneath the historic structure. Two three-storey side wings frame the courtyard, and the rear building contains a two-storey reinforced concrete conversion. The complex received the ASA Architectural Conservation Award for its architecture and community heritage conservation.
