Theater Het Appeltje
Theater Het Appeltje is a small theatre in Antwerp, Belgium, beneath St. Jacobskerk, with an L-shaped hall that changes how performances reach the audience. Fixed tribunes line two sides of the stage, placing spectators close to the action from more than one direction.
The building became a theatre in 1971 after serving as a brothel, and it now hosts small productions, local performances and community events. Its compact stage measures 2.5 by 5 by 3.7 metres, while a modest technical booth controls lighting and sound. Seventy-two seats keep the setting intimate, with performers and spectators sharing a room shaped around the performance.
