Park Spoor Noord
Park Spoor Noord is an eighteen-hectare landscape park in Antwerp, Belgium, built across a former railway yard. Open lawns stretch through the site, with paths for walking and cycling. Playgrounds, two fountains, sports fields, and a skatepark give the broad space several ways to use it. The eastern section adds table-tennis tables and basketball courts for active afternoons.
The Antwerpen Dam railway yard covered twenty-four hectares and served trains, repairs, maintenance, and worker training for about a century. Railway activity ended in 2001, leaving land later reshaped through work that began in 2005. Western areas opened in 2008, while eastern areas followed in 2009. Old railway buildings remain, including Cargo-Loods, a venue for events and performances. A youth centre arrived in 2010, and paths now connect Dam, Stuivenberg, and Seefhoek. Small wooded areas, gardens, and high-rise buildings around the park add contrasting settings.
