De Tuin van Zip

De Tuin van Zip is a self-guided nature activity for young children in the second and third years of kindergarten. It takes place in a park in Antwerp. Teachers and supervisors use an activity kit and manual to lead children through outdoor discovery. Zip is a hand puppet for introducing the garden activities. A storybook offers another way to guide the group through playful learning about the natural world. Children explore the natural world through play and observation. The activities encourage curiosity while connecting children with seasonal changes outdoors. The kit provides materials on site for each activity. Most park paths are paved, and nearby picnic areas and toilets support visits from organised groups. The paved paths suit strollers and wheelchairs. The Province of Antwerp organises the programme in Dutch and French for participating groups. Groups collect materials from park rangers near the garden entrance. Teachers can choose the puppet or storybook while following clear instructions at their group’s own pace. The garden makes outdoor learning a shared activity.
