Aphrodite-Statue

Aphrodite-Statue stands in Alterschrofen near the Allgäu Alps, beside a main road leading toward the Kristalltherme. The golden figure rises above fields and mountains, making a striking landmark visible from a distance.

Real marble forms the three-metre figure, while twenty-four-karat gold leaf covers its surface. Aphrodite holds a crystal in her outstretched hands and directs her gaze toward the spa. A two-metre turquoise-and-gold base brings the total height to about five metres. Chinese craftsmanship combines with Greek mythology and design influenced by Far Eastern temples. The sculpture also became a local talking point because its unexpected arrival prompted different reactions.

Sunlight catches the gold surface and sharpens the contrast between the statue, the fields and the mountain backdrop. The crystal remains the detail visitors notice first.
