Ehrenmal für die Gefallenen der Weltkriege Frankfurt-Seckbach

The Ehrenmal für die Gefallenen der Weltkriege Frankfurt-Seckbach stands among the green spaces of Lohrpark on Frankfurt’s Lohrberg. The memorial overlooks Seckbach from a wooded slope.

It commemorates Seckbach residents who died in the First and Second World Wars. Fifteen metal plaques name 125 fallen soldiers from the district. Built in 1930, the memorial occupies a five-by-ten-metre enclosure behind a 1.7-metre natural-stone wall. A later plaque extends the dedication to those who died during the Second World War. The added plaque carries a 1993 date.

A five-metre cross marks the memorial courtyard. Visitors enter through a two-winged gate of diagonally arranged metal bars and cross a sand-covered forecourt. Benches face the green spaces of Lohrpark. Inside, natural-stone paving surrounds a flower bed and sixteen metal plates set into the far wall. The rear side borders the Lohrberger Hang vineyard directly. From the forecourt, the view reaches parts of Seckbach, Huthpark, and Frankfurt’s skyline. Trees and bushes frame this place of remembrance.
