St. Nikolaus

St. Nikolaus presents a late Gothic core associated with the end of the fifteenth century. Original building records for St. Nikolaus have not survived to document its construction. A visitation report records a thorough renovation in 1708, followed by further changes to the church interior and exterior. The organ was extended and restored in 1986. Interior work followed in 2007, while a new sacristy wing completed the church’s later alterations in 2012.

The adjoining parish house has roots reaching back to around 1460. Rebuilt in 1720, it later housed Claretiner fathers and a Latin school from 1924. The house also contains a small hall and an office. A flat occupies its upper floor, while the lower level holds the hall and office. A carved wooden nativity by Josef Büchele belongs to the church’s Christmas display. The village also marks the patronal feast with a traditional men’s choir. St. Nikolaus brings together late Gothic fabric, repeated restoration, parish rooms, Claretiner history, and a carved nativity.
