Knisja tal-Madalena
Knisja tal-Madalena stands in Malta as a Roman Catholic church with a modest stone façade. Its quiet exterior contrasts with the grander churches nearby. Dedicated to Mary Magdalene, it formed part of the Magdalene asylum beside it, where women sought protection. The church offered a place for prayer beside that refuge, sheltering quiet hours and private lives within its walls.
Midway through the twentieth century, it was deconsecrated and fell silent for decades. Bishop Charles Scicluna blessed the church again on 25 February 2015. Light and footsteps returned through its doors, bringing the building back into community use. Its restrained stonework preserves a clear trace of shelter, silence and renewal.
