Chiesa della Santissima Trinità forms a compact circular church pressed against an urban block in Italy. Ascanio Vitozzi designed its central plan around the Trinity. Its entrances, side altars and stacked domes repeat a triadic pattern through the building. Painted decoration draws the eye into the dome. Francesco Gonin and Luigi Vacca executed the dome frescoes during the mid nineteenth century, while marble fittings reflect the Juvarrian circle. The sacristy preserves a ceiling fresco attributed to Claudio Francesco Beaumont. Angelo Marchini gave the present neoclassical façade a triangular pediment framing the Coronation of the Virgin. Wartime bombing destroyed the choir apse and damaged the roof. The same attack also harmed the main altar and dome gallery, while fires consumed the church archives. Restoration returned the building to worship and public access. The archconfraternity maintains the church and connects its devotional history with social services. Its interior makes the Trinity visible in stone and paint.
