Xác máy bay Mỹ
The American Plane Wreckage, also called Xác máy bay Mỹ, is a sculpture in Hanoi’s Huu Tiep Lake. It consists of remains from a B-52 bomber.
The aircraft fell into the lake during the campaign known as Hanoi Dien Bien Phu in the Air. That campaign formed part of the wider Linebacker II bombing campaign.
The wreckage records a chapter of the Vietnam War and marks a historic site in Hanoi. Visible metal wreckage rises from the lake water.
A Barringtonia acutangula tree grows from the fuselage, creating a striking meeting of living wood and damaged metal. The tree thrives beside the broken aircraft remains.
The B-52 was known as a flying fortress, yet this aircraft was shot down before releasing its bombs. The site preserves a reminder of the war.
Visitors encounter the wreckage within a lake setting that connects Hanoi’s neighbourhoods, history, and efforts to preserve the place.
