Centre cultural La Farinera del Clot

Centre cultural La Farinera del Clot brings culture and community life to a former flour mill in Barcelona’s Sant Martí district. Its brick complex dates from the mid-nineteenth century and follows the city’s modernista architectural tradition. Two original buildings once produced and stored flour, making the site one of the country’s major mills. Local heritage protection recognises the building’s cultural value.

A renovation in 1995 introduced modern features while preserving and strengthening the industrial character. Today, the Federació d’Entitats del Clot Camp de l’Arpa runs this public space for local residents and visitors. Courses, talks, exhibitions, book presentations, theatre, concerts, festivals and workshops fill its cultural programme. Rooms for public use let neighbourhood groups organise activities, while accessible facilities welcome people with physical disabilities.

Inside, an auditorium, concert halls, exhibition rooms, rehearsal spaces, a theatre and a cafeteria support varied events. A technology area and a youth centre for Sant Martí extend its role beyond the arts. Pilates, yoga, sewing, macramé and Bollywood fitness show how widely the programme reaches. The old flour mill now connects Barcelona’s industrial past with everyday learning, creativity and neighbourhood life.
