Nepomuk

Nepomuk stands beside a nearby path in Germany as a stone statue of Saint John of Nepomuk. The priest holds a cross against his chest, with his calm face slightly lowered.

A long robe, short cape and carefully carved folds reflect the Baroque tradition. Such figures stood near bridges and rivers as signs of protection against floods, recalling the priest from Prague and his connection with the Vltava.

Wind and rain have left some parts of the stone smooth and others rough. People pass the small figure on their way to work or during walks, keeping it part of the local landscape.
