Bahnhof Wiesbaden-Dotzheim
Bahnhof Wiesbaden-Dotzheim stands in Wiesbaden’s Dotzheim district as a preserved railway station linked to the Aartalbahn. The half-timbered gable roof and historic façade show the architecture that replaced the original barrack-like building.
Opened in 1889, the station connected Wiesbaden Rheinbahnhof with Langenschwalbach, now Bad Schwalbach. The present building followed in 1905, while passenger services ended in 1983 and museum trains began using the line in 1986. A bridge accident suspended those heritage services in 2009, but the Nassauische Touristik Bahn still uses the site for vehicle storage and maintenance.
The Aartalbahn Museum fills the historic building with exhibits and multimedia presentations about the railway’s heyday between 1889 and 1914. Railway posters from the 1950s, a working passenger scale, and the former restaurant’s photographs and documents bring that history close. Children find a dedicated section inspired by Jim Knopf and Lukas the Engine Driver.
