Palazzo Tiepolo

Palazzo Tiepolo Passi stands along the central stretch of Venice’s Grand Canal, in a mid-sixteenth-century setting. From the water, you see a historic façade; inside, decorative rooms preserve the character of Venetian noble architecture. A restored piano nobile opens onto broad rooms, an outer terrace, and a courtyard. Remains of frescoes by Andrea Meldola, also known as Andrea Schiavone, connect the interiors with Renaissance painting.

The palazzo now provides a setting for contemporary art exhibitions and cultural events associated with Venice. Shows such as I’m Not Afraid of Ghosts have brought paintings, photographs, installations, and conceptual works into conversation with domestic life, identity, and women’s experiences. Stanley Whitney: The Italian Paintings presented colourful abstractions, works on paper, and sketchbooks shaped by the artist’s connection with Italy. This contrast between historic frescoes and modern art gives each room a changing relationship between Venetian heritage and present-day creativity.
