Sacro Cuore di Gesù
Sacro Cuore di Gesù fills an entire city block in San Salvario, Italy, with a compact parish church and sanctuary. Inside, liturgy, community gatherings and an active oratory bring children, teenagers and adults together. Study spaces, music projects and group activities keep the interior connected to everyday neighbourhood life.
The parish carries around one hundred and fifty years of presence in San Salvario. Its mensa provides practical support for people facing hardship, while volunteers and social services sustain a centre of solidarity. The visible church dates from 1935, and repairs preserve damage caused by the air raid of 18 November 1942.
Andrea Gastaldi’s restored altarpiece draws attention inside, returned to its original appearance through conservation. Choral and Gregorian singing courses add a musical thread to the church’s continuing community life.
