Madonna della Divina Provvidenza
Madonna della Divina Provvidenza is a church in Italy, created through Don Michele Plassa’s initiative and Paolino Napione’s design. Its late-eclectic forms shape the masonry and volumes you can still examine. The rounded apse marks the eastern end and gives the building its most striking surviving feature.
RAF bombs struck the complex during the night of 20 November 1942, destroying the church almost completely. Only the apse remained standing after the attack. Reconstruction works were underway by 18 December 1945, while repairs and adaptations restored parish life.
Today, the church hosts liturgies and a local religious community within its repaired walls. Older fragments meet newer surfaces in visible transitions across the building. Look for patched stone and replaced window frames, where wartime damage meets the details of reconstruction.
