Immacolata Concezione e San Donato
Immacolata Concezione e San Donato stands among ordinary houses, where its modest street presence contrasts with the scale of its history. The parish began on 6 January 1855 in the chapel of the Sacra Famiglia institute, shortly after the Immaculate Conception became dogma.
As the neighbourhood grew, that chapel became too small, so land was acquired in April 1863 for a larger church. The new building opened to the public on 3 April 1869, while its facade reached completion in 1906. Eclectic details mark the architecture of the later nineteenth century, and wartime damage from the bombing of 13 July 1943 remains part of the local story. Today, parish celebrations, choir rehearsals and processions continue inside the church.
Look for the meeting point between the older nave and the later facade: one visible seam brings together construction, change and more than a century of community life.
